Athlete's foot & fungal nail

Athlete's foot & fungal nails

It is estimated that over 30% of the population in the UK suffers from athlete’s foot or a fungal nail. Especially athlete's, people who wear tight shoes and people with poor immune systems (due to age or illness) are susceptible to athlete's foot or nail fungus. Also diabetics, people with psoriasis and people who wear orthopedic shoes have an increased risk. Athlete's foot and nail fungus are caused by bacteria and fungi. These are present in humid areas such as swimming pools, showers and saunas. But moist shoes are also a hotbed of fungi and bacteria.

Treatment of athlete's foot & fungal nails

We strongly advice to get your feet treated by a podiatrist. There are products that tackle athlete's foot / a fungal nail and make your nails healthy again. These products are available at podiatrists, drugstores and pharmacies. You can use them at home yourself. It is not sufficient to only treat your feet and nails. There is a high chance that the infection will come back. Someone with a fungal infection can spread millions of spores, which remain infectious for a very long time.

How to prevent (re)contamination from your own shoes

Put your shoes on the Shoefresh each time you've worn them. The Shoefresh tackles the bacteria and fungi in your shoes from the inside out, using Active Oxygen technology. Also your shoes will be completely dries. Cleaning and drying your shoes regularly can help to prevent (re)contamination from the shoes. The Shoefresh is much more effective and easier than anti-fungal powder or a -spray.

Can you prevent athlete's foot / a fungal nail?

Unfortunately it is not possible to totally prevent it. The most important thing is to clean and dry your shoes regularly on the Shoefresh. To further reduce the risk of athlete's foot and a fungal nail we recommend the following:

Replace the insoles of your old shoes with our specially developed Shoefresh insoles with bamboo.
Use PH balanced soap or only was your feet with water.
Dry between your toes after swimming or bathing.
Put on clean sock every day.
Wear shower sandals in public pools and showers.
