Athlete's foot and fungal nail infection
In the UK, it is estimated that more than 30% of the population suffers from athlete's foot (swimmer's eczema) or fungal nail infection. Athletes, people who wear shoes that are too tight and people with reduced immunity (due to age or illness) are particularly at risk of athlete's foot and fungal nail infection. In addition, diabetics, people with psoriasis and wearers of orthopaedic shoes are also more likely to develop nail fungus. Athlete's foot and nail fungus are caused by fungi and bacteria. These are present in damp areas such as swimming pools, showers and saunas. However, damp shoes are also a breeding ground for these fungi and bacteria.
Recommended by pedicurists
More than 3,500 pedicurists in the Europe now use the Shoefresh. The Shoefresh has become an indispensable part of the treatment plan for clients with athlete's foot and fungal nails, to prevent reinfection from shoes.
Treatment
Athlete's foot and fungal nails will not disappear with the use of the Shoefresh. We recommend having your feet treated by a pedicurist. Products are needed to combat the fungus and restore the nails to health. These products are available from pedicurists, chemists and pharmacies and are also easy to use at home. Treating only the feet or nails is not enough: there is a high chance that the infection will return. This is because someone with a fungal infection can spread millions of spores, which remain contagious for a very long time.
Prevent (re)infection from your own shoes
Therefore, place your shoes on the Shoefresh every time you wear them. Shoefresh uses Active Oxygen technology to remove fungi and bacteria and dry shoes from the inside out. Cleaning and drying shoes regularly can help prevent (re)infection from the shoe. This method of combating the infection is much easier and more effective than treating shoes with an anti-fungal powder or spray.
