“In 2013 I started developing a solution to freshen up smelly, wet shoes after sports, so that unpleasant odors are quickly removed from the house and shoes have a longer lifespan. The first version was already a success and was recommended by (top) athletes and pedicures, but now we are taking the next step with the Shoefresh Opod.

Based on the many tests and discussions with users and experts, we launching an improved model of the Shoefresh in 2023. The Shoefresh Opod has improvements and refinements compared to its predecessor and is suitable for all types of shoes, with sports shoes in particular.”

- Anton van den Brand, founder and owner of Shoefresh

Is active oxygen (ozone) safe?
The Shoefresh is CE approved and found to be 100% safe. The amount of ozone used by the Shoefresh opod is very small and is well below the legal maximum. In addition, the ozone decays back into oxygen within a few minutes. So after cleaning, nothing remains in the shoe and in the room. The cleaning process is completely environmentally friendly: no chemicals are added.

Update January 2024:
The NVWA has determined that products that generate ozone in quantities that pose a health risk must be provided with a health warning. This is intended to protect consumers from ozone air purifiers that are on continuously.

  • For small spaces such as a toilet (up to 2.4 m³), a warning is required from 0.3 mg ozone per hour.
  • For other (larger) spaces, a warning is required from 3 mg ozone per hour.

Can the active oxygen (ozone) run out? Do you need refills?
The Shoefresh generates the active oxygen itself by means of an ozone generator. This does not need refills.

Tip: place the Shoefresh in a well-ventilated space of at least 2.4 m³, such as the utility room, garage or hall. This way you will not be bothered by the smell of your shoes and the cleaning.

A high contact temperature is very bad for shoes, which is why you should never put your shoes on the heater (or against the stove). However drying your shoes gradually with warm air is 100% safe.

For example, you can tolerate warm air of 80°C in a sauna. But if you touch a heating pipe of 80°C, you will burn immediately.

Note: always choose the "LEATHER" program with a drying temperature of 40°C for leather, gore-tex and suede shoes. These shoes are a lot more vulnerable.

By regularly cleaning and drying your shoes, the smell gradually diminishes. This is the case with all types of shoes. Even with old shoes. However, this does take some time. Unfortunately the smell does not go away in a few runs...

It is our advice to refresh your shoes each time you take them off for at least a month. Out of the 100 people that do this only 1 percent isn't satisfied. That is why we offer a 90 days money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied you can return your Shoefresh for free and you'll get your money back.

Healthy shoes, healthy feet
The warm, moist environment in your shoes is the ideal breeding ground for fungi and bacteria. On average, shoes contain more than 400,000 bacteria and fungi! This leads to smelly shoes and can also cause athlete's foot and nail fungus. It is therefore important to clean and dry your shoes regularly - just like your clothes, socks and underwear. If you keep your shoes healthy, you also keep your feet healthy.

Recommended by 3,500+ pedicures
Almost 1 in 3 people suffer from nail fungus or athlete's foot (athlete's foot). Treatment is necessary to combat the fungus and make the nails and feet healthy. We advise you to go to a pedicure for this. But you can also buy products yourself at the drugstore and apply them at home.

Treating your shoes is essential
Only treating the feet or nails alone is not enough... There is a good chance that the infection will return again and again. Someone with a fungal infection can spread millions of spores, which remain infectious for a very long time... To help prevent (re)infection from your own shoes you have to refresh them on the Shoefresh Opod each time you take them off!

You have a two-year warranty. Is something not working properly? We will provide a solution within two weeks! If you have any questions, please visit the Shoefresh Help Center.

You can clean the Shoefresh opod with a damp, soft cloth and a drop of cleaning agent. Do not use abrasives or hard brushes. Use a soft brush to remove dust and dirt from the air vent. Never immerse the Shoefresh opod in water.

The Shoefresh opod starts automatically when you place a pair of shoes over the shoe holders. However, you can also start the program manually by selecting a program and then pressing the GO! button. This can be useful for open shoes, slippers or sandals. Because these are not always seen by the infrared sensors

Once the program has finished, the program will automatically stop. You can also stop the program earlier by removing the shoes. Or by holding the GO! button for 3 seconds. The standby mode will then be activated immediately.

Is the Shoefresh opod stuck or not working properly? Always try resetting it to the factory settings first. You can do this by holding down the GO! button for 10 seconds. If you see two lines flashing on the screen, the factory settings have been loaded.

READ THE FOLLOWING SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USE.

  • Always handle electrical appliances with care. Use your common sense.
  • Use the Shoefresh opod in a well-ventilated area and not in a room where continuous work is being done. The Shoefresh opod uses ozone to effectively remove odours. Too much ozone is not good for the air quality and can cause headaches or breathing problems.
  • Place the appliance on a solid surface and always make sure that your Shoefresh opod is upright when in use. Also make sure that the air inlet – the grille on the back - is unobstructed.
  • Do not use the Shoefresh opod if the cord or plug is damaged. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised repairer as this can be dangerous.
  • The Shoefresh opod is designed for use in damp areas such as bathrooms. The items you place on the appliance also contain moisture. Water from your shoes can drain away through the drainage holes on the bottom. However, if a lot of water is spilled (e.g. water flowing out of a rain boot), we recommend switching off the Shoefresh opod and unplugging it until the water has drained out of the appliance via the drainage holes on the bottom. Leave the appliance in a dry place for 24 hours. Too much water can damage the Shoefresh opod. Never allow the Shoefresh opod to stand in water.
  • Never immerse the Shoefresh opod in water.
  • The Shoefresh opod is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with the appliance. Only allow children to use the Shoefresh opod under adult supervision.
  • Make sure that there is nothing between the two shoe holders when the plug is in the socket. This can cause the Shoefresh to start without this being intended.
  • Do not disassemble the appliance and do not attempt to repair or modify it yourself. This can result in injury, fire or other malfunctions. Only allow a qualified repairer to carry out repairs and maintenance on the dryer.
  • Removing parts or attempting to perform maintenance yourself will void the warranty.
  • Keep the dryer away from fire, flammable gas and corrosive substances.

Give your Shoefresh Opod a fixed place in your home, near the shoes. This invites you to put your shoes on it every time.

Use the Shoefresh Opod in a well-ventilated space of at least 2.4 m³, such as the utility room, garage or hall. And open a door or window for a moment. This way you will not be bothered by the smell of your shoes and the cleaning.
