In the beginning, a fungal nail often goes unnoticed because it causes no discomfort. Fungal nails usually start at the edge of the nail and gradually spread. At first, a fungal nail appears yellowish-white in color, and untreated fungal nails can later turn yellow-brown. Additionally, over time, the nail may become crumbly, thick, and bumpy.
